WHALE WATCHING CAPITAL
OF THE OREGON COAST
Come see for yourself!
Depoe Bay is fortunate to be one of the only locations on the West Coast with a pod of gray whales making its home off-shore from March through December, with migrating whales providing abundant opportunities to watch year-round. Visitors from all over the world come to glimpse whales from shore or to get a closer, more intimate look from one of the excellent local charter boat excursions such as marine biologist Carrie Newell’s Whale Research EcoExcursions.
The Depoe Bay Whale Center is an Oregon State Park and home of the highly acclaimed on-shore, whale-watch volunteer program called “Whale Watching Spoken Here,” which sponsors the Winter and Spring Break Whale Watching Weeks. The Center is dedicated to sharing information about whales and helping visitors understand and appreciate these awesome creatures.
across the street: nature’s dramatic show!
The Wine Cave’s location across the street from one of the only spouting horns on the Oregon Coast provides ample opportunity to experience this impressive show. Winter brings storm watching fun, as well.
